Unique Support Group Available in Hastings for Those Diagnosed with Alzheimers

Traditional Alzheimer’s support groups offer support and resources for family and friends who have a loved one struggling with this dementia related disease. However, a unique support group is being formed in Central Nebraska that seeks to combine both the patient and the family members in the same setting. The Heritage at College View has spent many months in the planning stages, along with the Alzheimer’s Association, to create The Early Stage Support Group. This group will provide emotional, educational and social support for people in the early stage of Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia and their care partner through regularly scheduled meetings. These groups help participants develop coping methods and encourage caregivers to maintain their personal, physical and emotional health.

Led by Stephanie Torczon and Kathy Nelson of The Heritage at College View, the unique group will meet at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, NE. They will meet from 6:00 – 7:30pm, bi-monthly, from August 11th through November 17th.

Advanced registration is required. For more information and/or to register, please contact Diane at 402-502-4301 or dhendricks@alz.org.
