How We Enjoy Grand Island Life Off Campus

Many of our residents have come from the Grand Island, Nebraska, area, so naturally they appreciate all our region has to offer. 

 Cultural attractions abound in Grand Island. Here are just a few that are part of our 2022 calendar.

Crane Trust Nature and Visitor Center is dedicated to protecting and maintaining the Big Bend area of the Platte River so that it continues to function as a life support system for a variety of migratory cranes as well as the Crane Trust Bison, a native and endangered mammal.

If you love to learn new things while also being outdoors, you will enjoy the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer. Spread across 200 acres and incorporating 100 different structures, there’s no end to what you’ll find at this highly interactive and remarkable museum.

Walkers, hikers and RVers will certainly enjoy Hall County Park. And of course, The Platte River – nationally regarded as one of the perfect places for viewing sandhill cranes during their spring migration – is a truly breathtaking experience. Or a day at Fonner Park is perfect for horse lovers and racing enthusiasts.

Music lovers will value the information provided on this helpful website, Bandsintown. From small musical venues to large performances, there are plenty of musical opportunities to consider. 

Golfers love the fact that several highly ranked courses, such as Riverside Golf Club and Indian Head Golf Club, are a short drive from The Heritage at Sagewood.

If a day of shopping followed by dinner at one of your favorite local restaurants is perfect for you and a friend, you’ll love that we offer complimentary transportation. Grand Isle Supermarket is a well-loved destination for both natives and visitors. And don’t forget to stop by Big Red Treats in the warmer months for a sweet treat like no other. Northwest Crossing Shopping Center has plenty of stores and easy parking. It’s also a short drive to favorite restaurants, including Tommy Gunz Bistro and Texas T-Bone Steakhouse.
