As our loved ones age, it’s normal for them to notice changes in their physical and mental abilities. They might need help remembering names, locating their keys or bags, and getting around comfortably in their daily activities.

During this period, seeking guidance from a primary care physician is vital to determine if your loved one would benefit from the additional care and support provided in a senior living community such as The Heritage at Sterling Ridge. Some things to monitor for that may indicate it’s time for assisted living include:

• Frequent falls

• Kitchen accidents
• Significant weight loss or gain
• Asking where past friends or family are
• Becoming agitated or nervous in crowded spaces like restaurants and shops
• Becoming restless, pacing, or wandering
• Avoiding or forgetting daily tasks such as eating, bathing, dressing in clean clothes, managing medication, and how to use appliances
• Forgetting how to return to familiar places
• Pulling away from interests and hobbies
• Unexplained depression, aggression, or anxiety

At The Heritage at Sterling Ridge, each meal we serve is restaurant-style with open seating and has a two-hour dining window so residents can eat when, where, and what they want to eat. If you miss the window to eat your meal, you can still have a meal delivered to your apartment home. Our large dining room faces west, bringing abundant natural light with beautiful views of the residential neighborhood. We also encourage our residents to share their favorite classic family recipes with our chef as a way to feel even more at home.
