Our Approach to Memory Care at The Heritage at Meridian Gardens

Visitors to The Heritage at Meridian Gardens often notice no stark difference between our community’s assisted living and memory care areas because comfort and connection are prioritized for every member of our community. Our dedicated caregivers, who are on-site and on-call 24/7, facilitate an environment of empathy, respect, trust, and fun using the Montessori method of dementia care. This positive, expert-approved approach puts your loved one at the center, treating them with dignity and encouraging active involvement and decision-making.

Our certified and attentive care team, on-site 24/7 embraces compassion, trust, respect, and fun in every aspect of our residents’ care. We take the time to get to know the little things that matter, like their favorite cookie flavors or what time they like to walk in the morning. All associates are trained in the Montessori Method of dementia care. Our unique training program reflects a person-centered positive approach blending the principles of Maria Montessori, Teepa Snow, and our team of internal certified dementia experts.

Helping your loved one move into a memory care community may not be easy for you or them. The Heritage at Meridian Gardens is committed to making all residents feel welcomed and valued while being specially designed for individuals with cognitive impairments. We offer a range of engaging programming intended to fulfill the minds and hearts of all our residents, from social activities to games and crafts. Your loved one deserves to feel supported and understood, and we make that our mission.

Personalized Memory Care Services

Portraits®

There is no one-size-fits-all way to care for our residents, and embracing the individuality of your loved one is deeply important to us. Our Portraits® program allows us to create tailored experiences for each individual to contribute to our community in a role and schedule that works for them. We develop personalized activity guides catered to each resident to engage them while encouraging them to succeed in their activities for daily living (ADLs).

Rather than trying to teach new things to our memory care residents, we focus on retaining and enhancing their existing abilities. When you visit your loved one, you may be pleasantly surprised to find her arranging flowers reminiscent of the garden you used to tend together. No matter where your loved one is in their disease process, we strive to enrich their quality of life by making them active participants in our community. Watch this video to learn more about how Portraits® at The Heritage at Meridian Gardens sets our services apart.

Family Involvement and Support

As a family member of a loved one experiencing dementia, you may be experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. At The Heritage at Meridian Gardens, we host supportive group meetings for families of memory care residents as a safe space to share experiences, become more educated on dementia, and learn skills to communicate with individuals with dementia. Our team welcomes family visitors and wants you to be engaged with your loved one. We strive to openly and frequently communicate with the family representatives regarding your loved one’s progress and needs. Our weekly Spotlight meetings involve associates proactively monitoring changes in residents, ensuring multiple eyes on your loved one. Following these meetings, we promptly reach out to families to keep you informed and engaged.
