Dining in Omaha: so much more on the menu

As visitomaha.com says, Omaha may be best known for its steaks, but it’s also amazing at specialty dining, thanks to the inventive chefs who are turning heads nationwide. And since the trip from “the farm to the fork” is short, you’ll know you are enjoying the freshest food possible when dining in Omaha.

Start your day on a hearty note

Treat your sleepy self to Early Bird, one of Omaha’s best brunch choices, with a menu that boasts omelets, chicken fried steaks, and pancakes, as well as other tempting fare. Love to settle into a cozy booth and enjoy a great view while you eat a traditional breakfast? Then take your family to Lisa’s Radial Cafe for a satisfying experience you’ll remember.

Drop by Stories Coffee Company for an amazing cup of locally roasted specialty coffee, and feel good knowing that you are helping supporting organizations that are doing good in Omaha. You might like it so much you’ll want to stay for lunch!

Keep the momentum, and your appetite, going

Dining in Omaha means delicious variety. For casual dining, try Jackson Street Tavern and enjoy American cuisine as well as wine, beer and cocktails. Savor excellent steak and other specialties at the Drover, known for whisky-marinated steaks and western-style atmosphere. Another excellent choice for meat-lovers is 801 Chophouse in Old Market, which promises the most precise, abundantly flavorful, and tender steaks on the market.

If seafood is calling your taste buds, treat yourself to the responsibly sourced seafood menu at Plank Seafood Provisions for an unforgettable meal. Mark a special occasion by dining on classic and innovative French cuisine at Le Bouillion, or experience traditional northern Italian at Avoli Osteria. Sumptuous Pacific Rim-inspired cuisine is yours at Pacific Eating House, where you can relax in a casual yet classy atmosphere and try fan favorites including Encinitas tacos, bibimbap, and Pacific cod chips.

Farm fresh and delicious

Fresh is a wonderful way to go, and farmers’ markets in Omaha do not disappoint.

From March through October, the Omaha Farmers Market is open in Old Market on Saturdays and in Aksarben Village on Sundays. You’ll find dozens of vendors of produce, meats, baked goods, coffees and tea, snacks, spices, and prepared foods, as well as arts and crafts.

Another excellent option is the Gifford Park Neighborhood Market, open Friday evenings June through September with produce, homemade foods, kids’ activities, and food trucks for every taste.

Nothing can compare to the taste of homegrown produce and the beauty of nature’s plants. At Wenninghoff’s Farmer’s Market, you can browse through a wide array of fresh fruits, vegetables and greenhouse plants while enjoying the authentic farm experience. Items like homey, jams, meats and eggs are also available.
